Landfilling Class I

SMIW Co. currently operates Class I landfills at its current Eastern Province facility. The landfill is designed and operated to prevent environmental contamination. A Class I landfill has a double HDPE membrane lining with a leachate collection system and two detection system with full capacity around 68,000 m3 and in accordance with the international standards and in compliance with applicable local regulatory requirements.

This type of double liner landfill helps to prevent groundwater contamination, Eight wells are located inside the facility for monitoring and detecting any problems / leak of contaminants if any

This type of landfills (also referred to as secure landfills) are constructed for the disposal of hazards wastes that once were ignitable, corrosive, reactive, toxic, or are designated as hazardous by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) and local authorities (MWAN, NCEC).

These wastes can have an adverse effect on human health and the environment if improperly managed.

SMIW Co can handle a lot of Hazardous wastes, which are produced by industrial, commercial, and agricultural activities,…..etc., For example but not limited to, Asbestos, Medicine, cosmetics, general industrial and solid waste, Soil Contaminated, Spent Catalyst, Resin, Grit or Sand Plasting, Paints, Pesticides, Chemicals, Chemical Powders, Bricks, Rassas slags, Iron Slags, Fly Ash, Inorganic Sludges (Brine, Phosphate), Spent Batteries, Electronic Waste.

The operation is supported with big fleet of machinery for handling of waste segregation, preparation for right and safe disposal.
