SMIW Acid waste treatment

Acidic and Alkaline Waste Treatment & Neutralization

SMIW Co operates a chemical treatment plant (neutralization plant) with a capacity around 8 m3/ hr.

As we know a Large quantities of hazardous aqueous wastes are generated daily from petrochemical, drilling services, galvanizing & steel, pharmaceuticals & labs, mines, batteries, refineries and other industries processes.

Acidic and caustic waste materials will usually fall into the category of Characteristic hazardous waste due to their corrosive and toxic nature. “Corrosives” are defined by their ability to chemically destroy the material(s) that they come into contact with, which makes them especially hazardous for environment and human exposure.

Now, in view of higher demand from industries to handle and containment such hazards waste, SMIW Co is investing and developing its capabilities towards containment and treating Acidic or Alkaline Waste by using neutralization technique.

Our processes include
  • Acid/ Alkaline neutralization.
  • Oxidation-reduction.

Waste can be treated
  • All Acidic Wastewater, from Galvanizing and Steel Industries, Petrochemical and Petroleum Industries, Lead & Metal Recovery and Mines Industries
  • Acidic sludge, Acid, e.g. Hydrochloric acid, Acetic acid, Boric acid, Hydrofluoric acid, Phosphoric acid, Nitric acid and Sulfuric acid
  • Alkaline Waste, e.g. Calcium hydroxide, Lithium hydroxide, Potassium hydroxide, Sodium hydroxide, Ammonium hydroxide
  • Caustic waste, Alkaline Sludge and Wastewater
Galvanic acid waste treatment unit

Galvanic Acidic wastewater/ Acidic Sludge are currently considered as the most dangerous and very toxic wastewater, which are formed during purification of galvanic process. The slimes of galvanic production are the most toxic industrial wastewater and sources of heavy metals to the environment.

Our treatment method

Reagent treatment of acidic wastewater or sludge from ions of heavy metals is carried out by their transfer to poorly soluble compounds (hydroxides or basic carbonates) within the neutralization of wastewater using various alkaline reagents such as Lime that adjust the pH from 0 to 6.5-8.5.

SMIW Co unit can neutralize 55 tons of acidic wastewater or sludge per batch and then send it to bioremediation unit for further treatment, then evaporation.
